Product Description

The FNM 71-16 cartridge case is associated with the Portuguese military cartridge designated as the 7.62x51mm NATO. This cartridge, also known as the .308 Winchester in civilian markets, is a widely used rifle cartridge for military, law enforcement, and civilian applications.

Here's an overview of the features and characteristics of the FNM 71-16 cartridge case:

Caliber: The FNM 71-16 cartridge case is designed for the 7.62x51mm NATO caliber, which features a bullet diameter of 7.62 millimeters (0.308 inches) and a case length of 51 millimeters. It's a full-power rifle cartridge.
Case Type: The cartridge case is rimless and bottlenecked. This design allows for smooth feeding and extraction in firearms with box magazines or belt-fed systems commonly found in rifles and machine guns chambered for this caliber.
Case Material: Typically, the FNM 71-16 cartridge cases are made of brass. Brass is chosen for its properties such as malleability, corrosion resistance, and ease of reloading.
Rim: As with most modern rifle cartridges, the FNM 71-16 case is rimless. This design allows for reliable feeding and extraction in firearms with box magazines.
Shoulder Angle: The cartridge features a distinct shoulder angle, aiding in consistent chambering and extraction in firearms with various action types.
Primer Type: The cases are typically equipped with Boxer primers, which are common in Western-produced ammunition. Boxer primers feature a single flash hole and are conducive to reloading by handloaders due to their design.
Usage: The FNM 71-16 cartridge case is used in rifles chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO caliber, including various battle rifles, designated marksman rifles, and sniper rifles. It has been adopted by numerous military forces around the world and is also popular among civilian shooters for hunting, target shooting, and long-range precision shooting.
