Product Description
Original First World War German 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge, carrying the Imperial-era headstamp S / 14 / 12 / P and dating from 1914, the opening year of the First World War.
The cartridge features the characteristic pointed Spitzer-style projectile used with the German 7.92mm Mauser military cartridge and an original brass case. The headstamp follows the early German system in which the markings identify the cartridge specification, production period and manufacturer.
This example has considerable age-related patination to both the case and projectile, together with darkened areas and surface marks consistent with its age. Importantly, the headstamp remains strongly defined and readily identifiable.
An attractive WWI German ammunition collector's piece, particularly desirable because of its 1914 date, and suitable for a display alongside German Mauser, Gewehr 98 and First World War militaria.
