Product Description
Â
This is an outstanding, original example of the French Épée-Baïonnette Modèle 1886 Modifié 1915, commonly known as the Lebel M1886/15 Bayonet, complete with its steel scabbard. Designed for use with the iconic Lebel rifle, this bayonet was widely issued to French forces during World War I and remained in service into World War II.
This example is in excellent condition, with a bright cruciform steel blade free from rust or damage. The blade is straight and untipped, with fine original polish. The steel hilt and hooked quillon guard remain solid, with minimal wear. The scabbard is also original and retains a smooth finish with no dents—rare for pieces of this age.
These bayonets are prized for their elegant design and historical importance, particularly the Modèle 1886/15 variant, which introduced simplified wartime production changes. Ideal for military collectors, WW1 historians, or museum display, this bayonet offers authenticity, quality, and a strong link to the French soldier’s experience on the Western Front.
