Product Description
This World War II British Army Lamp Electric No. 4, manufactured by D.B. Ltd, is a superb example of WWII British field signalling equipment in excellent original condition. Designed as a portable electric signalling lamp, it features sliding red and green filters that allowed soldiers to communicate in Morse code or signal to other units while maintaining operational security. The metal body retains its wartime finish, with only minor cosmetic wear consistent with age, and includes its original leather strap and belt loop for secure attachment to uniform buttons or equipment. These lamps were standard issue with British forces and played an important role in battlefield communication where radio was unavailable or unsuitable.
Collectors value this model for its robust construction and historical significance, as well as its intact components and functional appearance. It makes an eye-catching addition to any WWII British militaria collection, display of signalling gear, or museum exhibit focused on wartime communications. Whether placed alongside period webbing, uniforms, or other field equipment, this original No. 4 lamp captures the practical ingenuity of British Army design during the Second World War.
