Product Description
The RWS 8x60 INERT Cartridge is a non-functional replica of the live 8x60mm rifle round, designed for training, display, and collector purposes. Manufactured by RWS (Rheinisch-Westfälische Sprengstoff), a renowned German ammunition company, this inert cartridge accurately replicates the original design while being completely safe for handling.
The 8x60mm cartridge was historically used in bolt-action rifles, particularly in post-World War I Germany, where it served as an alternative to the military 8x57mm Mauser round due to restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. This round was favored by hunters and sport shooters, offering excellent ballistic performance for medium to large game.
The inert version of the 8x60 cartridge is meticulously crafted with an authentic brass casing and a seated projectile, but it lacks gunpowder and a live primer. Some variations may feature drilled holes in the casing or a painted primer to indicate their inert status. These cartridges are commonly used for firearms function testing, museum displays, educational demonstrations, or as collector’s items for historical firearm enthusiasts.
With its precise construction and historical significance, the RWS 8x60 INERT Cartridge is a valuable addition for anyone interested in vintage European ammunition and firearm history.
