Product Description

An original and scarce Norwegian 10.15×61R Jarmann military rifle cartridge, associated with the distinctive Jarmann M/1884 bolt-action service rifle.

The 10.15×61R was adopted by Norway in the early 1880s and became the service cartridge for the Jarmann rifle. The Jarmann represented an important transitional period in Scandinavian military firearms development, between the large-bore single-shot black-powder rifles of the 19th century and the later small-bore smokeless-powder repeating rifles.

This example features the characteristic large rimmed, bottlenecked case together with a flat-nosed silver-coloured jacketed projectile. Of particular collector interest is the unusual four-square arsenal marking on the case head, a style associated with Norwegian ammunition production.

The original 10.15mm Jarmann ammunition was initially produced with black powder and lead projectiles, with later developments including jacketed bullets and smokeless-powder loadings.

An impressive and increasingly difficult obsolete military calibre, particularly attractive to collectors of Norwegian, Scandinavian and late-19th-century service ammunition.
