Product Description

The Packet, First Aid, Field, Brown Dressing, U.S. Army, Carlisle Model was a vital emergency medical supply issued to American soldiers during the 20th century. Manufactured by Guild Foundations, New York, this dressing was designed to quickly treat wounds on the battlefield, helping to control bleeding and prevent infection.

The Carlisle Model first aid dressing originated from the Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania and was widely used from World War I through the Vietnam War. It featured a sterile gauze pad attached to a bandage, packed in a moisture-resistant waxed brown paper or metal tin to maintain sterility in harsh conditions. The brown packaging helped it blend into military gear, reducing visibility to enemy forces.

Lightweight and compact, the dressing fit into standard first aid pouches, ensuring that every soldier had access to life-saving treatment. The Guild Foundations company was among the trusted manufacturers supplying these critical dressings to the U.S. military.

Today, the Carlisle Model first aid dressing is a sought-after military collectible, representing the advancements in combat medicine and the essential role of first aid kits in battlefield survival. It remains a symbol of the U.S. Army’s commitment to soldier care and preparedness.
