Product Description
This Original WWII Indian First Field Dressing (FFD) is a rare and authentic piece of wartime medical equipment issued by the Indian Medical Service during the Second World War. Designed for immediate treatment of battlefield wounds, the FFD was a vital part of every soldier’s personal gear and played a crucial role in first aid care for British Indian Army personnel.
This dressing consists of two sterile gauze pads sewn into cotton fabric, impregnated with antiseptic and wrapped in a sealed khaki cotton outer cover, printed with usage instructions and wartime markings. The clear ink stampings include references to the Indian Medical Service, manufacturer, and often a date of manufacture, typically in the early 1940s.
These dressings were widely carried by Indian troops fighting in numerous campaigns, from North Africa to Burma. As a disposable, single-use item, few examples have survived in this original, unopened condition, making this a highly collectible artifact.
Ideal for WWII militaria collectors, medical historians, or as part of a British Commonwealth field kit display, this Indian First Field Dressing offers a tangible connection to the frontline medical efforts and soldier care within the vast British Indian Army during the war
