Product Description

This Original WWI Italian Army Pacchetto Individuale Sterilizzato is a rare and authentic personal field dressing issued to Italian soldiers during the First World War. Intended for emergency treatment of wounds sustained on the battlefield, this sterilized individual medical packet was a vital component of a soldier’s personal gear, reflecting the growing emphasis on frontline first aid during early 20th-century warfare.

The packet is sealed in its original khaki or grey paper wrapping, printed with wartime markings, including Italian military designation, usage instructions, and often the manufacturer's information. The term "Pacchetto Individuale Sterilizzato" translates to “Sterilized Individual Packet,” and it typically contained sterilized gauze or bandages, impregnated with antiseptic agents such as iodine or boric acid, used to reduce infection risk until proper medical treatment could be administered.

These packets were carried in tunic or kit pouches and were among the few immediate resources available to wounded soldiers in the trenches or mountainous fronts of the Italian campaigns. Due to their consumable nature, surviving examples—especially in unopened, original condition—are increasingly scarce.

This item is ideal for WWI militaria collectors, medical historians, or as part of a museum-quality Italian Army display. It offers a tangible and poignant link to the daily struggles of frontline troops during one of the most grueling and transformative conflicts in modern history.
