Product Description

An original inert German 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge bearing the va S 12 1943 headstamp. This is a genuine Second World War military cartridge manufactured for the Wehrmacht during 1943, one of the busiest years of German wartime ammunition production.

The va manufacturer code identifies Kabel- und Metallwerke Neumeyer A.-G., Nürnberg, Germany. The company was a major supplier of cartridge cases and complete 9mm Parabellum ammunition to the German armed forces. Neumeyer specialised in advanced cold-extrusion techniques for cartridge case manufacture, enabling efficient high-volume production during the war. Contemporary collector references note that va-marked 9mm cases were typically loaded at the same factory rather than being transferred elsewhere for loading.

Headstamp Breakdown

  • va – Kabel- und Metallwerke Neumeyer A.-G., Nürnberg
  • S – Brass cartridge case
  • 12 – Production Lot 12
  • 1943 – Year of manufacture

Unlike the more common St (steel) cases encountered on many late-war German cartridges, this example has a brass (S) case, making it a desirable wartime variation. German military headstamps identify the manufacturer, case material, production lot and year of manufacture.

This cartridge would have been issued for use in Germany's principal 9mm service weapons, including:

  • P08 Luger
  • Walther P38
  • MP38
  • MP40
  • Other German weapons chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum
