Product Description

An original inert German 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge bearing the kam St 17 1943 headstamp. This is a genuine Second World War military cartridge manufactured for the Wehrmacht during 1943, when German ammunition production was at its peak.

The kam manufacturer code identifies HASAG (Hugo Schneider AG), Eisen- und Metallwerke GmbH, Werk Skarżysko-Kamienna, located in occupied Poland. Originally built as the Polish State Ammunition Factory (Państwowa Wytwórnia Uzbrojenia), the plant was seized following the German invasion of Poland in 1939 and became one of the Third Reich's largest producers of military ammunition. Millions of 9×19mm Parabellum cartridges were manufactured here for the Wehrmacht between 1940 and 1944.

During the war, the Skarżysko-Kamienna factory became notorious for its use of forced labour under the control of HASAG. Tens of thousands of prisoners passed through the associated labour camps, making ammunition production from this factory historically significant.

Headstamp Breakdown

  • kam – HASAG (Hugo Schneider AG), Werk Skarżysko-Kamienna, occupied Poland
  • St – Steel cartridge case
  • 17 – Production Lot 17
  • 1943 – Year of manufacture

The St marking denotes a steel cartridge case, introduced to conserve brass as wartime demand increased. By 1943, steel-cased 9mm ammunition had become standard across much of German military production.

This cartridge would have been issued for use in many of Germany's principal 9mm service weapons, including:

  • P08 Luger
  • Walther P38
  • MP38
  • MP40
  • MP41
  • Other German firearms chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge
