Product Description
An original inert Imperial German 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge bearing the C 5 1917 headstamp. This is a genuine First World War military cartridge manufactured for the Imperial German Army during 1917.
The C manufacturer code identifies Munitionsfabrik Cassel (Cassel/Kassel Ammunition Factory), one of the German military ammunition factories producing 9mm Parabellum ammunition for the P08 Luger during the First World War. Wartime examples bearing the C headstamp dated 1917 are well documented by cartridge collectors.
Headstamp Breakdown
- C – Munitionsfabrik Cassel (Kassel), Germany
- 5 – Production Lot 5
- 1917 – Year of manufacture
Produced during the height of the First World War, this cartridge would have been issued primarily for use in the:
- P08 Luger
- Artillery Luger (LP08)
- Early German 9mm submachine gun development and training
- Other Imperial German weapons chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum
By 1917, Germany was manufacturing vast quantities of 9mm ammunition to meet the demands of the Western and Eastern Fronts. Original WWI-dated examples remain highly desirable among collectors due to their direct association with Imperial German service and the iconic Luger pistol.
