This original inert British .455 revolver round, designated Mk IV and headstamped RL 1940, is an excellent example of Second World War British service ammunition. Manufactured by Kynoch, one of Britain’s most important wartime ammunition producers, this cartridge was issued for use in service revolvers such as the Webley Mk IV, Mk V, and Mk VI, as well as the Enfield No. 2 revolver when chambered for .455.
The Mk IV loading typically featured a full metal jacket bullet, designed to improve feeding reliability and comply with military conventions. The clear RL 1940 headstamp confirms wartime production during the height of Britain’s rearmament and global conflict. This example has been professionally rendered completely inert, containing no primer or propellant, making it legal for ownership and ideal for safe handling and display.
