Product Description
This original inert .303 British Mk VII ball round, marked with the distinctive CAC CV 1 headstamp, is an uncommon and highly collectible example of Colonial Ammunition Company production. CAC operated factories in both Australia and New Zealand, supplying .303 British ammunition to military forces across the Commonwealth throughout the early and mid-20th century. The CV 1 marking is one of the less frequently encountered headstamp variations, making these cartridges particularly appealing to advanced collectors.
The .303 British cartridge served as the standard round for iconic service weapons such as the SMLE Mk III, Lee–Enfield No.4, Vickers machine gun, and Lewis gun. CAC-manufactured ammunition played an important role in training, mobilisation, and Commonwealth defence commitments, especially in the decades surrounding the First and Second World Wars.
Professionally deactivated to full UK legal standards, this round is completely inert while retaining its original components and external appearance. Its unusual headstamp makes it ideal for cartridge boards, specialist ammunition collections, or displays focused on Australian and New Zealand military history.
A scarce and historically interesting piece, the CAC CV 1 headstamp adds character and depth to any .303 British ammunition collection.
