Product Description
Original inert .303 British military cartridge featuring an Eley “E” 1913 dated headstamp, manufactured during the final years before the outbreak of the First World War.
The “E” factory code is associated with Eley Brothers / Eley ammunition production, one of Britain’s best-known historic ammunition manufacturers. Early single-letter factory headstamps such as this were commonly used during the pre-WW1 era before later wartime standardisation expanded British military cartridge coding systems.
Manufactured in 1913, this cartridge represents British military ammunition produced during the Edwardian period immediately before the beginning of the Great War and the massive wartime expansion of .303 production.
Pre-1914 dated .303 rounds are increasingly sought after by collectors due to their direct association with:
- the pre-war British Army
- early Lee-Enfield service rifles
- British Empire military forces
- WW1 mobilisation period ammunition stocks
The cartridge retains an authentic military appearance with original brass casing and projectile profile, making it an excellent display or reference example for collectors of:
- WW1 militaria
- British military ammunition
- Lee-Enfield rifles
- .303 British headstamps
- Pre-WW1 military history
