Product Description
Original .240 Holland & Holland Magnum Rimless, also known as the .240 Apex or .240 Super Express, collector's cartridge.
This example carries the desirable early-style “HOLLANDS .240” headstamp and features the distinctive belted brass case associated with Holland & Holland's early Magnum sporting cartridges.
Developed by the famous London gunmaker Holland & Holland around 1919–1920, the .240 Apex was an advanced British high-velocity sporting cartridge intended principally for deer, antelope and similar game. It used a .245-inch diameter bullet and a 2.49-inch belted case, with contemporary 100-grain loadings producing approximately 2,900 fps.
The .240 Apex is now an obsolete calibre and original Holland & Holland examples are sought after by collectors of classic British sporting ammunition, early Magnum cartridges and Holland & Holland memorabilia.
The cartridge displays very well, retaining a clean brass case, original headstamp and nickel/silver-coloured jacketed projectile. Please study the photographs for exact condition.
Headstamp: HOLLANDS .240
