Product Description
This is an excellent and increasingly scarce full box of 10 inert .303 British rounds, all in very nice original condition and carrying the desirable “K28 VII” headstamp. Manufactured by Kynoch in 1928, these rounds were produced specifically for War Office trials as Kynoch sought to secure a major contract to supply ammunition for the Lewis Gun, which remained an important British and Commonwealth support weapon during the interwar years.
The K28 VII headstamp identifies both the maker (Kynoch – “K”) and the year of manufacture (1928), while “VII” refers to the Mark VII ball projectile, the standard British .303 loading of the period. Ammunition made for trials is naturally limited in quantity, making surviving examples particularly collectible. To find a complete box of 10 with matching headstamps is notably uncommon, as most were fired, disposed of, or later broken down.
These rounds have been professionally rendered inert, retaining their original cases, projectiles, and primers for safe display. An ideal addition for collectors of early .303 ammunition, Kynoch production, Lewis Gun accessories, or interwar British small arms development. A beautiful and historically significant set from a fascinating transitional period in British military ammunition history.
