Product Description

This early inert 6.5×55 Swedish rifle cartridge features a distinctive headstamp with the Swedish crown above the markings “09 M.” The crown symbol indicates Swedish military production, while the “05” represents the year 1909, placing this cartridge among the earlier examples of Swedish Mauser ammunition. The letter “M” is commonly associated with production by Swedish Army Ammunition Factories.

The 6.5×55 cartridge was adopted in the 1890s for use in Swedish service rifles such as the Mauser m/96 rifle and later the Mauser m/38 rifle. Renowned for its excellent accuracy, mild recoil, and effective ballistic performance, the calibre remained in Swedish military service for many decades and continues to be widely respected among target shooters and hunters today.

Cartridges from the early 1900s are particularly desirable to collectors because they represent the formative years of Swedish Mauser ammunition production. The brass case retains its historic military headstamp and early manufacturing style.

This example has been completely rendered inert, with no active primer or propellant present, making it safe to handle and ideal for collectors, educational displays, or historic ammunition collections focusing on early 20th-century military cartridges.
