Product Description
This British Royal Marines Bush Jacket, dated 1953 and made by W. Henderson Ltd., is a superb example of post-World War II British military tailoring. Issued during the early Cold War period, this khaki jacket was designed for wear in warm and tropical climates such as Malaya, where British forces, including the Royal Marines, were actively engaged.
Marked as Size 11, the label inside specifies fit for individuals between 6'1" and 6'2" in height with a waist of 34" to 36". Made from lightweight and breathable khaki cotton drill, the jacket is well-suited for jungle and bush operations. The design features four pleated front pockets with buttoned flaps, shoulder epaulettes, and an internal drawstring waist for a tailored fit. All original buttons are intact, and the garment remains in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or moth damage—remarkable for a piece of its age.
The “RM” marking confirms Royal Marines issue, adding both historical and collectible value. The 1953 date places it in the postwar era, when Britain was involved in numerous overseas conflicts and peacekeeping missions, particularly in Asia and Africa.
Ideal for collectors, reenactors, or vintage military enthusiasts, this jacket offers both authenticity and quality. Whether displayed as part of a Cold War military collection or worn for period accuracy, it stands as a durable and iconic example of British military uniform design during a pivotal period in 20th-century history.
