Product Description
This is a superb example of the British Artillery Director No. 7 MkII, clearly dated 1940, and mounted on a custom wooden display plinth. Used extensively during the Second World War, this optical instrument played a crucial role in artillery fire control, enabling accurate alignment and coordination of guns on the battlefield.
Manufactured to wartime military specifications, the No. 7 MkII Director was typically deployed by Royal Artillery units to calculate angles of sight and bearing. The device features adjustable optical sights and engraved military markings, including a prominent wartime date stamp. This particular piece remains in excellent condition, with all adjustment dials, level bubbles, and sighting optics present and well-preserved.
The addition of the solid wooden plinth not only enhances its presentation but also makes it ideal for museum displays, collectors, or educational exhibits focused on British WW2 military technology.
A rare and historically significant piece of artillery equipment, this Director represents the ingenuity and precision of British wartime engineering. Whether for static display or as part of a larger artillery collection, the 1940-dated Director No. 7 MkII is a remarkable example of operational history brought to life.
A standout collector’s item for those with an interest in WW2 British field instruments.
