Product Description
This original Austrian M30 Steyr Mannlicher 8×56R en-bloc charger is offered complete with five inert 8×56R cartridges dated 1940, forming an attractive and historically significant ammunition set. The charger is clearly marked “RM”, identifying manufacture by Rheinische Metallwaren- und Maschinenfabrik (RM), Sömmerda, Germany, a major German arms and ammunition producer during the inter-war and Second World War period.
The 8×56mmR cartridge was officially adopted by Austria in 1930 for use in the Steyr Mannlicher rifles and carbines, replacing the earlier 8×50mmR round. Following the Anschluss, production continued under German control, with wartime-dated ammunition such as this being issued across Axis-controlled forces. The 1940 headstamps on the cartridges place this set firmly within the early WWII period.
All five cartridges are completely inert, containing no propellant and no live primers, making them safe for display, study, or reference collections. The original Mannlicher charger retains correct form and function, designed to load five rounds directly into the rifle’s internal magazine. Condition is good, with honest age-related wear consistent with service and storage. An excellent display piece for collectors of WWII ammunition, German-produced ordnance, or Steyr Mannlicher equipment.
