Product Description

This 8×56R 1938-dated inert round is an authentic piece of Austrian military history, manufactured by Munitionsfabrik Wollersdorf. Its distinctive two-headed eagle headstamp clearly identifies its origin and adds collector appeal. The 8×56R cartridge was widely used in the Austrian and German service rifles of the interwar period, including the Steyr-Mannlicher M95, and represents an important calibre in Central European military history.

This example is fully deactivated, with the primer struck and no propellant, making it completely safe to own and display. The brass case retains its original form and patina, preserving the historical integrity of this pre-WWII ammunition. Its clear headstamp, including the 1938 date, is highly desirable among collectors of European small arms cartridges, military headstamps, and historic ammunition.

Ideal for militaria collectors, historians, or display enthusiasts, this cartridge provides a tangible link to Austria’s military production during a pivotal period in European history. Whether used as a standalone display piece, incorporated into a headstamp collection, or displayed alongside other Mannlicher ammunition, this 8×56R round offers both historical authenticity and aesthetic interest. Fully inert and legal to own in the UK and EU, it is an excellent example of pre-WWII Austrian ammunition.
