Product Description

This 1967 1 Lira banknote was issued by the Bank Centrali Ta' Malta (Central Bank of Malta) and represents a significant period in the country’s early post-independence monetary history. Denominated in Maltese Pounds (Liri), the note features a striking portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the front, alongside the national coat of arms and traditional Maltese design motifs. The reverse typically showcases symbolic elements representing Malta’s heritage and maritime significance. Printed in a combination of subtle blue, purple, and olive tones, the note is a fine example of mid-20th-century European currency design. Offered in circulated condition, it may exhibit signs of use such as folds, creasing, or edge wear, but remains intact and legible. This is a desirable piece for collectors of British Commonwealth currency, pre-Euro European notes, or anyone with a connection to Malta’s rich cultural history
