Product Description

The 1945 dated King George VI one shilling was a British coin that was minted during the reign of King George VI of the United Kingdom. The shilling was a silver coin with a value of one shilling, or 1/20th of a pound.

On the obverse side of the coin, there is a right-facing portrait of King George VI, wearing a crown and surrounded by the inscription "GEORGIVS VI D G BR OMN REX F D IND IMP." This inscription translates to "George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."

The reverse side of the coin features a crowned shield with the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom. The shield is divided into four quarters, each representing different countries within the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Surrounding the shield is the denomination "ONE SHILLING" and the year "1945."

The 1945 King George VI one shilling was minted in 50% silver and 50% copper. It has a diameter of 23.6mm and weighs approximately 5.65 grams.
