Product Description

On the obverse side of the coin, you would find the portrait of King George V. The specific design of 1936 One Shilling featured the "Modified Effigy" of the King. In this portrait, King George V is shown facing left,

The inscription "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX  can be seen around the King's portrait, which translates to "George the Fifth, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains."

The reverse side of the coin features a crowned shield design within a Garter. The shield is divided into four quarters, representing the constituent countries of the United Kingdom: the three lions of England, the lion rampant of Scotland, the harp of Ireland, and the three lions of Hanover. Above the shield is a small crown, and below it, the denomination "ONE SHILLING" is inscribed.

The 1936 One Shilling coin has a diameter of approximately 23.6 millimeters and weighs about 5.65 grams. It is composed of 50% silver and 50% copper. The edge of the coin is typically milled with small vertical lines.
