Product Description
This original King George V One Penny dated 1918 is an authentic British bronze coin issued shortly after the end of the First World War. The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George V, designed by Sir Bertram Mackennal, with the surrounding legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:. The reverse displays the classic seated figure of Britannia holding a trident and shield, symbolising Britain’s strength and maritime heritage.
Struck in bronze at the Royal Mint, these coins circulated widely throughout Britain during a period of post-war recovery and economic adjustment. Measuring approximately 30.8mm in diameter and weighing 9.4 grams, the penny was a substantial and familiar part of everyday commerce.
This example shows honest circulation wear consistent with age, while retaining clear detail and strong historical character. A desirable addition to any British coin, WWI era, or general numismatic collection.
