Product Description

The 1918 dated King George V farthing was a British coin that was minted during the reign of King George V of the United Kingdom. A farthing was a small denomination coin, representing a quarter of a penny.

The obverse side of the coin features the bust of King George V facing left, wearing a crown and surrounded by the inscription "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP," which stands for "George V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."

The reverse side of the coin depicts a seated Britannia, the personification of the United Kingdom, holding a trident and shield, with the denomination "FARTHING" inscribed below. Surrounding Britannia are the Latin words "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE," which is the motto of the Order of the Garter and translates to "Shame on him who thinks evil of it."

The 1918 King George V farthing was minted in bronze, with a composition of 95.5% copper and 4.5% tin. It has a diameter of 20.3mm and weighs approximately 2.8 grams.
