Product Description
This original WWI British Prismatic Compass, manufactured by E. Koehn of Genève, Suisse and dated 1918, is a rare and exceptional piece of military history. E. Koehn, a respected Swiss watch and instrument maker, produced a limited number of precision compasses for British forces during the final year of the Great War.
Constructed from solid brass and designed for durability in the field, the compass features a classic prismatic sight for accurate readings, allowing users to observe their target while simultaneously viewing the dial. The mother-of-pearl dial is beautifully preserved, with sharp directional markings and functional luminous points. The rotating bezel, transit lock, and thumb loop are all intact and operational.
The compass is clearly engraved with “E. Koehn Genève Suisse” and the date “1918,” affirming its authenticity and wartime provenance. Its quality and craftsmanship reflect the high standards of Swiss precision engineering combined with British military requirements.
This piece remains in excellent condition, showing only minor age-related wear, and may include its original leather pouch if available. An ideal addition to any WWI militaria collection, museum display, or historical education setting, it offers a rare opportunity to own a functional and finely made navigational instrument from over a century ago.
