Product Description

An original WW2 German 7.92×57mm Mauser inert cartridge featuring the wartime “wg” manufacturer code, dated 1945, with St+ steel case marking and Lot 4 designation.

The “wg” code identifies production by Hugo Schneider AG of Altenburg, Germany, a recognised wartime ammunition manufacturer operating under the German ordnance code system used throughout the Second World War. German factories used coded markings rather than full company names as a security measure during wartime production.

Dated 1945, this cartridge represents genuine late-war German ammunition manufacture from the final months of the conflict. The St+ marking indicates a strengthened steel cartridge case, introduced as Germany increasingly relied on steel rather than brass due to wartime material shortages.

The 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge was the standard ammunition used in iconic German weapons such as the Kar98k rifle, MG34, and MG42 machine guns, making these rounds highly collectible among enthusiasts of German militaria and WW2 history.

This example retains authentic period appearance with clear headstamp markings and honest age-related patina, making it an excellent display or collection piece.
