Product Description
An interesting vintage British Eley .410 bore cartridge, featuring a brass case and large exposed lead projectile.
The headstamp is clearly marked:
ELEY 410
This identifies the manufacturer as Eley, one of Britain's most important and historic ammunition manufacturers. Eley's association with the .410 stretches back to the 19th century, with .410 centrefire ammunition appearing in period Eley catalogues.
Unlike the familiar later paper and plastic .410 shotgun cartridges, this example has the appearance of an older-style brass-cased loading. Brass .410 ammunition forms an interesting part of the development of the small-bore cartridge and is considerably more distinctive as a collector's display piece than modern .410 ammunition.
The cartridge retains an attractive aged brass finish with a substantial exposed lead projectile. The ELEY 410 headstamp remains particularly clear.
