Product Description

This is an original inert 20mm brass cartridge case dated 1943, bearing the RH headstamp, which identifies the manufacturer as Raleigh Cycle Co. During the Second World War, several civilian manufacturers, including Raleigh, were contracted to produce ordnance components such as cartridge cases to meet the high demand for military ammunition.

The 20mm calibre was widely used in aircraft cannons, anti-aircraft guns, and light armoured vehicles. While high-explosive and practice rounds existed, this example is a brass case only, fully inerted for safe collection and display. The clear RH headstamp and wartime date make it an authentic piece of WWII production history.

Raleigh Cycle Co.’s contribution to wartime manufacturing adds a unique historical element, making this cartridge case especially interesting to collectors of British WWII munitions, aircraft ordnance, and militaria. The sturdy brass case retains its original finish, providing an excellent display piece or reference example for research.

This cartridge case is ideal for WWII ammunition collections, aircraft and anti-aircraft ordnance displays, or military history exhibits, representing both the calibre used in combat and the civilian industrial effort behind wartime munitions production.
