Product Description
Original Inert WW2 German 7.92×57mm Mauser Cartridge
An original inert German 7.92×57mm Mauser rifle cartridge manufactured in 1939, during the opening year of the Second World War.
The P120 manufacturer code identifies Hugo Schneider A.G. (HASAG), Werk Altenburg, one of Germany's major wartime ammunition producers. HASAG manufactured millions of military cartridges for the Wehrmacht and later adopted the three-letter factory code system introduced during the war.
Headstamp Details
- Manufacturer Code: P120
- Manufacturer: Hugo Schneider A.G. (HASAG), Werk Altenburg
- Year: 1939
- Case Material: St – Steel case
- Lot Number: 7
The St marking denotes a steel cartridge case. During 1939 Germany increasingly introduced steel cases to reduce the use of brass, making examples from this transitional period particularly interesting to collectors.
This cartridge would have been produced for use in many of Germany's standard service weapons, including:
- Karabiner 98k
- Gewehr 98
- MG34
- MG13
- Czech ZB-26 and ZB-30 machine guns in German service
An excellent original early-war example from one of Germany's best-known ammunition manufacturers.
