Product Description
An original inert German 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge bearing the P369 S 11 1938 headstamp. This is a genuine pre-Second World War military cartridge manufactured during Germany's rapid rearmament programme for the Wehrmacht.
The P369 manufacturer code identifies Teuto Metallwerke GmbH, Osnabrück, Germany. Teuto Metallwerke was one of the German military cartridge case manufacturers allocated a P-code before the adoption of the later three-letter factory codes. The company supplied large quantities of 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge cases to support the expanding German armed forces in the years immediately preceding the outbreak of the Second World War.
Headstamp Breakdown
- P369 – Teuto Metallwerke GmbH, Osnabrück, Germany
- S – Brass cartridge case (standard brass alloy)
- 11 – Production Lot 11
- 1938 – Year of manufacture
Manufactured in 1938, this cartridge dates from the period when the Karabiner 98k was becoming the Wehrmacht's standard service rifle. It would have been issued for use in:
- Karabiner 98k (K98k)
- Gewehr 98
- MG13
- MG34
- Other German weapons chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge
Unlike the steel-cased ammunition that became common later in the war, this example retains its brass (S) case, characteristic of many pre-war German military cartridges. German headstamps of this era identify the manufacturer, case material, production lot, and year of manufacture.
