Product Description
Original British WWII 20mm Hispano cannon cartridge case dated 1941, converted into an inert display round with a wooden reproduction projectile.
The base is clearly headstamped:
↑ / 20 MM / 1941
The Broad Arrow denotes British government/military ownership and the 1941 date places the case firmly within the Second World War.
The 20×110mm Hispano cartridge was developed for the Hispano-Suiza HS.404 family of 20mm automatic cannon and became one of the principal British aircraft cannon cartridges of WWII. Hispano cannon armed numerous RAF aircraft, including variants of the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Westland Whirlwind, Bristol Beaufighter and de Havilland Mosquito.
This example retains an attractive aged brass finish with visible service/storage marks. The projectile is wooden and is a later replacement, making the item suitable as an inexpensive representative display example while retaining the genuine wartime 1941 cartridge case.
