Product Description
Original inert .303 British cartridge with SAAF 11 5 22 headstamp, manufactured at SAAF No.1 Footscray, Victoria, Australia.
Dated May 1922, this cartridge represents early post-WW1 Commonwealth military ammunition production for continued service use throughout the British Empire.
The Small Arms Ammunition Factory (SAAF) No.1 Footscray was Australia’s principal military ammunition plant, producing large quantities of .303 British cartridges for use in weapons such as the Lee-Enfield rifle and Vickers machine gun.
The segmented headstamp format clearly identifies:
- Factory (SAAF No.1 Footscray)
- Month of manufacture (May)
- Year of manufacture (1922)
A strong collector example ideal for Commonwealth militaria collections, Australian military displays, and .303 headstamp reference sets.
