A very nice original British .577/.450 Martini-Henry cartridge, manufactured by Eley Brothers.
The cartridge retains a clearly visible ELEY 577/450 headstamp and features the characteristic bottlenecked brass case and large rim of the famous .577/.450 Martini-Henry cartridge.
The projectile is a traditional paper-patched lead bullet, with the surviving blue/grey paper patch clearly visible around the bullet.
The .577/.450 Martini-Henry was adopted by the British Army in 1871 for the Martini-Henry rifle and became one of the most recognisable British military cartridges of the late Victorian period. Eley Brothers was an important British manufacturer of this cartridge and also produced commercial .577/.450 ammunition.
A particularly nice example for a British ammunition or Martini-Henry collection, with an attractive and clearly legible Eley headstamp.
Condition: Very good overall collector condition, with some age-related toning and minor surface marks. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
